BI NABS 2 ALIEN FUGITIVES IN PASAY, DUMAGUETE

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the arrest of two foreign nationals in Metro Manila and Negros Oriental who are wanted by authorities in their homelands for being fugitives from justice.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the aliens as Korean national Kim Jinsu, 45, and American Malik Dejoun Okojie, 26, who were arrested Thursday by operatives from the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

Kim, who is wanted for illegal drugs in Korea, was arrested along F.B. Hrrison St., Pasay City while Okojie was collared at his home in Bgy. Bagumpandan, Dumaguete City.

“They will be deported after our board of commissioners has issued the orders for their summary deportation. Afterwards, we will include them in our blacklist to prevent them from re-entering the Philippines,” Tansingco said.

Kim is reportedly subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Daejeon district court in Korea after he was charged for violating his country’s narcotics control act.

Authorities alleged that Kim headed a drug syndicate that facilitated the illegal importation, distribution and sale in Korea of illegal drugs worth more than 5 billion won, or about US$3.6 million.

He also allegedly smuggled into Korea some 6 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.5 kilograms of synthetic drugs and 3,000 tablets of ecstasy tablets which were allegedly transported using drug mules.
